| Considérant la disparition accélérée des
habitats naturels dans le sud du Québec, nous demandons aux
autorités municipales, régionales et provinciales de préserver la
ceinture verte située aux limites des municipalités de Châteauguay
et Léry, entre le Centre écologique Fernand-Seguin et les
territoires protégés du ruisseau Saint-Jean et de l’île
Saint-Bernard (Refuge faunique Marguerite-D’Youville). À l’instar de
la Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal qui a déjà statué sur
l’importance de ces milieux, nous jugeons que le maintien de ce
corridor naturel est essentiel pour assurer la pérennité de la flore
et la faune caractéristiques qui s’y trouvent, et pour permettre à
la population régionale de pouvoir y pratiquer des activités de
loisir en lien avec la nature.

| Considering the increasing loss of natural habitats in the southern part of the province of Quebec, we demand from our municipal, regional and provincial authorities the preservation of the Chateauguay-Léry forest (the "Green Belt"), an area spreading from the Fernand-Seguin Ecological Center to the protected territories of the St-Jean creek and the Saint-Bernard Island (Refuge Faunique Marguerite-D’Youville). Following the example of the Montreal Metropolitan Community which has already ruled on the importance of these environments, we believe that the conservation of this natural corridor is essential to ensure the sustainability of its very unique flora and fauna and to keep providing the local population with outdoor and nature-related activities.
